   <description><![CDATA[ In a large bowl, cream the butter. Add the sugar and beat until fluffy. Add the egg and beat until well blended. Mix in the soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add the flour and stir just until blended. Stir in the apples and nuts. Pour into an oiled 9" round cake pan and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes until the top springs back when touched lightly with your finger. 

Serve with Hot Caramel Sauce. In a saucepan, melt the butter, brown sugar and salt. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and whisk in vanilla and milk. Serve warm sauce over cake. Serves 8.

   <description><![CDATA[ Mix and sieve together the flour and baking powder onto a pastry board or cool slab. Make a well in the center and pour in the sugar,
vanilla, rum, lemon juice, and the eggs. Draw in some flour from the sides of the well to mix with these and form a thick paste. Add the
cold butter, cut into small pieces, the finely chopped beef drippings, cottage cheese, currants, sultanas, nuts and candied peel. Cover the fruits with more of the flour, and then starting from the middle, work all of it together quickly with your hands into a firm, smooth paste. If it should stick, add a little more flour. Form the mix into a long, oval shape, and then fold it over lengthwise to give it the traditional "stollen" shape.

Line a baking dish with greased waxed paper and place stollen on this.

Preheat the oven for 5 minutes at 500F. Then bake at a moderately hot over (375F) for 50-60 minutes. As soon as the stollen comes out of the oven, brush with melted butter and dust thickly with powdered sugar.

Make patterns, designs, swirls or whatever with the stream of batter as it flows into the hot fat. 

When 'cakes' are golden brown, drain, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar and serve warm.

If desired, sprinkle paprika lightly over top of noodles. 

Bake in 375 degree oven for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly.

temperature, do not refrigerate. Stir every day for 17 days. The recipe makes
more than the 1 cup needed. But allows for evaporation. Now the starter is
ready. For the next 10 days handle starter according to the following
instructions. Day 1, receive the starter Day 2, 3 &amp; 4 - stir Day 5, Add 1 cup
each flour, sugar and milk. Day 6 &amp; 7, stir Day 8 &amp; 9, stir Day 10, Add 1
cup flour, sugar and milk. Divide into 3 containers of 1 cup each for friends.
After removing the 3 cups of batter, mix in the following ingredients: Using
a fork, beat by hand until well blended. Add 1 cup raisins and 1 cup nuts
(optional).
Grease pans with butter, sprinkle with sugar instead of flour. Bake at 325
for 1 hour. Cool 10 minutes, remove from pans.

into ball. Makes enough pastry for a 9 inch two crust pie or two shells.
Cream butter; add sugar and egg yolks. Beat until light and fluffy. Stir in
flour, salt, lemon juice, rind and hot milk. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Bake in 400 degree oven for approximately 40 minutes. Serves 6 at 371
calories per serving.
